Jay
Cross [Sept 26 2002]
This
character is recognizable by his turban, garish
clothes, and long funny shoes. He usually appears
as a slave owner in a scenario in which a long
lost daughter returns to town. The Turk provides
a lot of opportunities to do translation lazzi
[Turkish to Local]. He also is usually someone
that Pantalone has to deal with as a very effective
business-man. The Turk also allows the injection
of wild and strange culture. We like to use
the Turkish 'happy dance'. The Turk is not our
invention. We got his name from the first Scala
scenario from the character 'Mustaffa slave,
the Tofano de Bisignosi, his brother'.
